Why Pack-Out Barcodes Matter

Using barcodes during a pack-out allows your team to:

  • Tag boxes and large items immediately on-site

  • Scan and track contents through cleaning and vault storage

  • Quickly retrieve rush items

  • Maintain accurate visibility through production and pack-back

Teams using barcodes throughout their workflow see major gains in speed, accuracy, and operational control.

Note: Barcodes are required only if you want to track contents at your restoration facility. For any operation that wants production visibility, scanning, and accurate returns, barcoding is strongly recommended.

Before You Print: What You Need

1. Printer & Label Media

  • Laser printer + Avery 8160 label sheets (recommended and supported)

2. QR Code Option (If Preferred)

If your company prefers QR codes instead of standard barcodes:
You can enable QR Code labels under
Company Settings → Barcode Format.

3. Required Software

  • Adobe Reader installed

  • Internet-connected computer

Critical Warning: Never Reprint Barcode Labels Twice

Each barcode or QR code is unique and must only be printed once.
Reprinting the same sheet again will create duplicate labels, causing:

  • Incorrect scans

  • Items jumping locations

  • Mixed or corrupted inventory

  • Pack-back errors

  • Inaccurate reporting

Best practice:
After printing your barcode PDF, delete it immediately from the iCat Reports Viewer so it cannot be reprinted by mistake.
