How to Generate Emergency Barcode Labels (Unique Barcode Series)

Emergency barcodes are a small set of generic labels stored in field vehicles.They are used only when a team unexpectedly runs out of job-specific barcodes during a pack-out.

Where to Generate Emergency Barcodes

To access the emergency barcode generator:

  1. Go to Admin in iCat

  2. Under Reports, select Unique Barcode Series

How to Generate Emergency Barcode Labels

  1. Go to Admin → Unique Barcode Series

  2. Enter the quantity of labels (recommended: 100–200 per vehicle)

  3. Leave all other fields at their default settings

  4. Click Generate to create the PDF

  5. Print using:

    • Any laser printer

    • Avery 8160 label sheets

  6. Immediately delete the PDF from Reports Viewer so it cannot be reprinted

❗ Critical Rule: Never Reprint Emergency Barcodes

Each emergency barcode is unique.

Reprinting the same PDF creates duplicate codes, which causes:

  • Incorrect location assignments

  • Conflicting scans

  • Damaged or corrupted inventory history

  • Pack-back errors

Always delete the PDF after printing.

How to Store Emergency Barcodes

  • Place printed labels in a clearly marked envelope:
    ​“Emergency Barcodes – Do Not Reprint”

  • Keep 1–2 envelopes in each field vehicle
