Where to Generate Emergency Barcodes

To access the emergency barcode generator:

  1. Navigate to the Admin tab in iCat.

  2. Under Reports, select Unique Barcode Series.

Here’s what the menu looks like:

How to Generate Emergency Barcodes

  1. Go to Admin → Unique Barcode Series.

  2. Enter the quantity of emergency barcodes you want (recommended: 100–200 per vehicle).

  3. Leave all other selections to default.

  4. Generate the barcode PDF.

  5. Print the labels using:

    • Laser printer + Avery 8160 sheets

  6. Immediately delete the PDF from the Reports Viewer to ensure it cannot be reprinted.

Important Rules

Never Reprint Emergency Barcodes

Each code must be unique.
Reprinting causes duplicates which lead to:

  • Wrong location assignments

  • Conflicting scans

  • Broken inventory history

  • Pack-back errors

Always delete the PDF after printing.

How to Store Emergency Barcodes

  • Place labels in a clearly marked envelope:
“Emergency Barcodes – Do Not Reprint”

  • Keep 1–2 envelopes in each field vehicle.
