Transfer an Item from One Box to Another

How to perform an administrative transfer of a single item from one box to another inside the web platform.

Important:
The correct and preferred method is to transfer items using the iCat Inventory mobile app on the production floor.
Administrative transfers should be avoided whenever possible, as they bypass normal scanning workflow and increase the risk of human error.
However, there are moments when an administrative transfer is required — and this tutorial shows how to do it safely.


When to Use This Method

Use the administrative transfer only when:

  • The item has already been stored incorrectly,

  • The box is no longer physically accessible,

  • A correction must be made remotely for billing or tracking purposes,

  • Or a supervisor is fixing data after reviewing production.

If you can access the boxes physically, always transfer using the mobile app instead.


Steps (Administrative Transfer) from Production > Contents Production

  1. Locate the Item

    • Search/select it in the web Contents Production View.

    • Expand the box contents on the left side.

  2. Select Only the Item

    • Deselect the box

    • Select only the item you want to move.

      If the box is selected, the system will attempt to transfer the entire box.

  3. Click “Transfer”

  4. Choose the Destination Box
    You may:

    • Scan the destination box barcode (if available), or

    • Type the box name manually.

  5. Confirm the Transfer

    • The confirmation window will show the item being moved and the destination box.

    • Click Transfer.

  6. Verify

    • Search or scan the destination box to confirm the item now appears inside it.


Results

The system moves the selected item to the new box and updates all audit logs to reflect the administrative correction.
