Use the Add Inventory Screen to Perform Detailed Inventories

Or, create FAST inventories (when using Fast CATALOG services)

Leverage the following technologies:

  • Image Recognition

  • OCR Text Scanning

  • Augmented Reality Measurement Tool

  • Original Location Image Capture

  • UPC Barcode Scanning

  • Quick-Shot Inventory

This article will explain the primary navigation and options within this view.

Get There:  Navigate to a Job's Main Menu, select Inventory, then select the "+" icon lower right.

The Add Inventory Screen

  • Tiles with data are shaded light grey.  By Default, some tiles will selected with data inputted, such as Category (defaulted to "other"), which defaults to "other", Status (defaulted to Cleanable), and Quantity (defaulted to 1).

  • Tiles with a white background have no data/nothing selected.  White and Blue shading are meant to help the operator know which fields have data.

Room: Tap to add an existing room or create one on the fly.  This field is mandatory to save a content line item.

Item Barcode: Tap to scan/add a Pack-out Inventory Barcode.  Or, select the pencil icon to type/add a barcode number manually.

Box Barcode: Tap to scan/add a Box Barcode.  Or, select the pencil icon to type/add a barcode number manually.

  • Once scanned, select the box type from your list of resources.  After selecting, the barcode will appear, and the box color will reflect the box resource type.

  • Toggle between All / Cleaning / Regular to easily select the required Box Resource.

Content Images: Tap to take Content Item Images.  As you take images.  An image count will appear after a selection has been made.

  • Tap anywhere on the camera screen to take pictures of content items.

  • Tap the Location icon to include a picture to demonstrate where the item was removed. This will assist with the pack-back.

Category: Tap to set the category of the content item being inventoried.  Leave defaulted to "other" if Fast CATALOG is to be used.

  • Select the Lock icon to "Pin" the category so that it is selected after saving the line item.  This is useful when inventorying many of the same category items, such as soft content.

  • Categories List options are fixed.

Status: Tap to set the status of a content inventory item.  The default status is "Cleanable" (This item may respond to cleaning).   Status can be locked/pinned for faster inventory (great when inventorying Non-Salvage / Replacement contents).

  • Item Status options are fixed.

Description: Tap to add Description, Make, Model, and Serial Number information.  The description can be locked to make an inventory of similar items faster, such as soft content items like dress shirts or pants.  Leave blank if you are using Fast CATALOG Image Recognition Services.

  • Manually Type in the Description.

  • If it's a Non-Salvage (Replacement) or "Return As-is" item, the user can scan the UPC barcode to obtain Description, Make, and Model Information.

  • Select the Camera Icon to Make, Model, and Serial number text directly from the camera.  This view will also scan serial number barcodes for quicker entry—an excellent tool for electronics inventory crews.

  • Hint: Tap the screen to take an image of text instead of holding the camera on the text.  It will process based on the image temporarily captured.

  • Hint: Long Press to delete Make/Model/Serial should you need to do it again.

Add Size: Tap to add a size to the item.  Size is used only for billing (Cleaning Cost X Size = Total Cleaning Cost).

  • Size or Dimensions can be added manually.  Such as Pounds of Wash & Fold, Linear Feet of Drapes/Blinds, or Sq. Ft of Carpet.

  • Tap the Camera icon to use Augmented Reality measurement tools from the camera (!)

Add Quantity: Tap to add multiple quantities of an item or indicate quantity in a picture.  If using Fast CATALOG Image Recognition, leave blank if obvious; otherwise, add quantity.

Rush: Tap to assign Rush processing status to an item.  This can be locked/pinned to make it easy to inventory many Rush Contents one after another.

Custom Tag:  Tap to assign a Custom Tag to help organize content lists and reports or to make searching for these contents any time easier.  This selection can be Locked / Pinned to make the inventory of similar tagged items easier.

  • Assign one or more Custom Tags from your company's list of available custom tags.

Notes: Tap to add a note to the content item during inventory.  Notes can be saved as Pre-existing Damage, General, Administrative, or Task.

Accessory: Tap to assign a content inventory line item to another previously inventoried (parent) content item.   An accessory is something that comes with the parent unit when purchased.  You can use this feature if the accessory needs to be tracked or inventoried differently.   It is not often used but is helpful when required.  The user will be prompted to scan the iCat inventory barcode of the previously entered parent item.

Note: Why assign an item as a child accessory?  If the television remote is in a different box, and the insured requests rush, both entities will automatically be rushed in iCat.  The packing slip upon delivery will notify all parties where each related item can be found - for greater ease of delivery and setup.  If you mark a parent item as a replacement during the cleaning process,  all its child accessories (the other parts) will also be marked as replacement.  Child accessories are not line items on a loss schedule; they are included with the replacement.

Quick Shot Inventory: A lightning-fast solution for inventorying like items.  An excellent tool for soft content providers.

  • Tapping this option will freeze all content settings (no need to lock/pin each individually). Then, the user can take a picture of the item.  In this tool, one image = 1 line item.

  • There is also an option to add a second picture.

Save: SAVE text in Red, located at the top right of the screen, indicates inventory data that needs to be saved on the current screen.
